Client's Brief :
A Vastu oriented house with modern utilities and exquisite victorian furniture outlook was the main brief. The client was willing to make necessary civil changes but was completely against the demolition of the existing structure except at places where it was extremely important.
The structure of the house was kept intact, while the functions of the spaces were interchanged based on the location of the house. Since the small room at the entrance fell under the North-East corner it was switched into a Puja Room. Keeping in mind the size of the room multiple functional rooms was proposed with a puja in front while a small work desk at the rear of the room.
In order to amplify the space, the entrance vestibule was added with a bevelled mirror with a multi desk serving as a decor cum storage space. The immediate encounter with the dining area was screen off with the help of vertical wood louvres which directs the movement directly into the living area.
The existing glazing was replaced with large sliding UPVC sections which interconnect the balcony with the living area hence enlarging the space visually. Keeping in mind the Vastu, the furniture layout of the bedroom was redone and laminated flooring was proposed to add to the warmth of the space.
Vegetation, pots and planters were proposed in the balcony so as to allow natural air purification and integrate the concept of landscape. Different finishes were proposed keeping in mind the occupants of each room. A rich and warm theme was opted for Master Bedroom, while the son's room was a blend of raw and smooth finishes.
